About Caloy Company LLC In 1998, entrepreneur Joseph S. Collins founded Caloy Company in Riverbank, California and began processing almonds and walnuts into oil for the cosmetics, pharmaceutical and food industries. Caloy eventually became a major exporter of these products to the European market, and by 2000 Caloy had become one of the foremost processors of almond and walnut oil in the state of California. In 2005 Caloy Company entered into a strategic partnership with Gustav Heess GmbH and became Caloy Company LLC. Gustav Heess, a German based corporation, was founded in 1897 as a chemical and raw materials producer and supplier. Over time, the company shifted its focus to the production and supply of vegetable fats and oils for industrial customers in a variety of industries including cosmetics, food and pharmaceuticals. Gustav Heess is now a market leader in the production and supply of specialty vegetable oils in the European market. Since the 1990s Gustav Heess has increased its market share throughout Europe. Subsidiaries and close business partnerships with likeminded companies have been established in the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Spain, Ukraine and now the United States. Increasing importance has been attached to quality factors, and since 1993 Gustav Heess has been running a laboratory, which earned ISO 9002 accreditation in 1995. Gustav Heess currently distributes its products throughout Europe. In 2005 Caloy Company LLC, in conjunction with Gustav Heess, purchased new property in Denair, California. Shortly thereafter, construction began on a state of the art oil processing facility, which will be completed in December 2006. Completion of the new facility will allow Caloy to more than double its production output, expand its exports to the European Union and begin distribution to the U.S. market. Caloy's objective has always been to produce the highest quality pure almond and walnut oil in the market. In conjunction with Gustav Heess, Caloy is now also able to produce and supply its customers with a wide array of vegetable fats and oils for use in the cosmetics, pharmaceutical and food industries.
